NEW PAN Card Application – How to Apply Online?

To carry out certain tasks, a PAN or Permanent Account Number is required. Therefore, it is necessary to possess a card that contains a unique 10-digit alphanumeric code that is issued by the Income Tax Department.

You can apply for a PAN card online or offline. In this article, we discuss how to apply for the card using Protean eGov Technologies Limited (formerly NSDL) and UTIITSL.

Depending on whether you are an Indian citizen or a foreign citizen, you will have to fill out Form 49A or 49AA when applying for a new PAN card. Applicants who do not currently have a PAN card and have not applied for one should keep in mind that this is primarily for those who do not have one. Follow these steps:

Online PAN Application is available on the NSDL website.

The second step is to choose your application type: Form 49A (Indian Citizens) or 49AA (Foreign Citizens) or Changes or Corrections to PAN/Reprint of PAN Card.

Choosing a category is the third step. Among the options are: Individuals, Associations of Persons, Groups of Individuals, Trusts, Limited Liability Partnerships, Firms, Governments, Hindu Undivided Families, Artificial Judicial Persons, and Local Authorities.

Please enter your title, last name/surname, first name, middle name, date of birth/incorporation/formation in DD/MM/YYYY format, email address, mobile number, and captcha code. Fill out the form and submit it.

You will receive an acknowledgement with a token number on the next page. You can now proceed to the next page by clicking ‘Continue with PAN Application Form’.

After completing Step 5, you will be prompted to enter more personal information, similar to Form 49A or Form 49AA.

Select the method of submitting the documents in Step 7. Applicants may: a) forward application documents physically; b) submit digitally through digital signatures; or c) submit digitally through e-signatures.

The next step is to indicate what documents you are submitting as proof of identity, address, and date of birth on the same page. Ensure that the declaration, place, and date of application are correct. Complete the form and submit it. Make sure you do not make any mistakes.

On the next page, click ‘Proceed’ to go to the payment options. Through Bill Desk, you can choose between Demand Drafts and Online Payments.

The Form 10 demands the DD number, the date of issue, the amount, and the name of the bank from where the DD is generated. If you choose Demand Draft, you must have made a DD before applying as you need the DD number, the date of issue, and the amount.
